What We Believe

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is Lord and King.

Christian faith begins with Him and remains under His authority. He is not merely admired, studied, or spoken of. He is followed.

To confess Christ as Lord is to accept that our lives are not entirely our own. 

Our conduct, choices, desires, relationships, and ambitions must continually be brought before Him.

Christ does not take a place within our lives. He takes first place over them.

FAITH

Faith is more than agreement with Christian teaching.

It is trust in Jesus Christ expressed through the way we live.

What we believe must eventually govern what we do. Faith enters our decisions, our habits, our relationships, our use of time, and our treatment of others.

A Christianity confined to words cannot form the whole life.

Faith must be lived.

PRAYER

Prayer is not reserved for crisis, convenience, or Sunday worship.

It is a daily discipline through which we turn our attention toward God, humble ourselves before Him, and remember whose authority governs our lives.

Christians have prayed standing, kneeling, bowed, and prostrate. The posture may differ, but prayer should never become careless or empty.

We make time for prayer because a life centered upon Christ must repeatedly return to Him.

Prayer is not optional.

REPENTANCE

Repentance is more than regret for what we have done.

It requires us to turn away from what separates us from God and to bring our conduct back into obedience to Christ.

We examine ourselves honestly. We confess what is wrong. We make amends where they are required. 

And we do not call repentance complete while deliberately continuing in what we know must change.

The Christian life requires continual correction of the self before God.

Repentance is not seasonal.

DISCIPLINE

The Christian life does not form itself.

What we repeatedly do shapes what we become. For this reason, we practice discipline in prayer, speech, appetite, thought, conduct, and the use of our time.

Discipline is not punishment, nor is it a means of earning God's grace. It is the deliberate ordering of life around what we profess to believe.

We do not wait to feel devoted before living faithfully.

Discipline is expected.

OBEDIENCE

To call Jesus Christ Lord is to recognize an authority greater than our own desires.

Obedience requires us to measure our choices against His teaching, especially when obedience is inconvenient, costly, or contrary to what we would prefer.

We will not obey perfectly. When we fail, we repent, correct our course, and return to Christ.

Christian obedience is not passive. It is faith made visible through action.

Obedience is not negotiated.

SERVICE

A life ordered around Christ cannot remain concerned only with itself.

We are called to serve others, care for those in need, fulfill our responsibilities, and use what has been entrusted to us for purposes beyond our own comfort.

Service is not performed for recognition. It is an expression of love, humility, responsibility, and obedience before God.

What we have been given carries responsibility.

Service becomes duty.

BELIEF IS THE BEGINNING.

What we believe must eventually become the way we live.

Eye of Providence exists to call Christians beyond passive belief and toward a life of prayer, repentance, discipline, obedience, and service centered completely upon Jesus Christ.

The Christian life is not merely understood. It is entered.
